【發現一本好書 -- 張湘君教授選讀】《If Winter Comes Tell It I'm Not Here》

您喜歡冬天嗎? 尤其是陰雨綿綿的冬日。

冷空氣籠罩，北台灣極端濕冷。想起前幾天在圖書館偶遇的英文繪本《If Winter Comes, Tell It I’m Not Here》。

“If Winter Comes, Tell It I’m Not Here” ，哈，好一個幼兒的口吻，童稚、直白!這一個長長、念起來讓人不禁笑出聲的書名實在取得好!

從書名可臆測故事中的主角應該是不喜歡冬天的!

果真書中小男孩因為夏天可以整天泡在水裡，太喜歡夏天，所以有點畏懼冬天的到來！

書中的圖文逗趣有味，比如小男孩覺得他上輩子是條魚，自信滿滿地說自己泳技高超，但其實圖中看到的他還需要戴著護具，自豪的表示沒有什麼東西可以讓他從水裡上來，但是常常只是為了吃冰淇淋，他就上岸了！

小男孩姊姊提醒他趕緊好好享受夏天。免得冬天來了，白天變短，天氣變冷、樹上的樹葉紛紛落下，就要跟泳衣和冰淇淋說Bye-bye了！尤其等到下雪後，屋外就會變得冰凍昏暗，根本無法外出，只能待在屋內的沙發上發呆，無所事事。

後來冬天果真來了，各種大自然的變化也如小男孩姊姊提及般的一一出現！

Days get shorter and nights come early. We are all stuck on the sofa.

It rains a lot. You couldn’t stay dry even if you tried.

然而小男孩發現冬天雖然冷，並沒有想像中的那樣無趣。

因為在雪地裡玩耍很好玩，而不出門跟家人窩在沙發上看電視也不錯。

原來，冬天一點也不無聊，應該好好的享受它！

In the end, winter is nothing like I imagined. I think I like it. I think I can still have lots of fun. …

So I figure I better make the most of it.

小男孩從開始的抗拒、理解、接受到喜歡，對於冬天的感覺最後有了180度的轉變！

台灣正值冷冷冬季，一波又一波的寒流將隨之而來，最近疫情雖然稍稍減緩，但是流感肆虐，家長帶孩子外出，除了擔心天氣太冷，還要留意出門在外會不會被傳染波及。然而讓孩子待在家，又不想給小孩一直看電視、玩手機，能安排些什麼休閒娛樂呢？

共讀童書繪本、共玩繪畫、桌遊、樂高多種益智遊戲、親子烹飪等都是值得嘗試的冬季室內活動，到底孩子在成長過程中需要透過多方的摸索與刺激，才能找到心之所向，以及促進多元智能的發展，不是嗎?
