In every age there are courageous people who break with tradition to explore new ideas and challenge accepted truths. Galileo Galilei was just such a man--a genius--and the first to turn the telescope to the skies to map the heavens. In doing so, he offered objective evidence that the earth was not the fixed center of the universe but that it and all the other planets revolved around the sun. 生長在50到60年代受蘇聯統治的捷克與鐵幕時期，小時候的Peter Sis常做著至遠方冒險的夢。當時人們在政治與文化上的自由被蘇聯政府所控制，因此要到鐵幕之外的地方旅行是很相當困難的。現與妻女住在紐約的Peter說：「人們無法選擇在和平或戰亂中生存，但能夠在一個痛苦的年代裡，像孩子般地玩耍是很幸運且美好的事，回想起來，我有個很棒的童年都要歸功於我親愛的父母。」父親Vladimir是個電影人和探險家，母親是藝術家，他們都鼓勵Peter去追尋自己的藝術和夢想。由於Vladimir身為電影人的特殊身份，他才有機會到鐵幕以外的地方旅行，而Peter也因此可以透過父親帶回來的故事，開啟他對枯燥平凡生活外的想像。即便正統藝術學校的學習限制，讓他大感失望,，卻依舊堅持自己的藝術之路。經由童書作家Maurice Sendak將他介紹給Ava Weiss，從此開始他童書作家的生涯。Follow the Dream是他對哥倫比亞發現新大陸的重新詮釋，也是他自己本身追尋夢想的寫照。
